The most effective Church Planting Training is based solely on the Word of God. It is always trans-cultural. The principles that God has already provided in the Scriptures should be the foundation of every training session. Significance results when “the house is built upon the rock” of the Scriptures. The Holy Spirit sovereignly works as these twelve principles are consistently applied:

12 BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES OF CHURCH PLANTING

1. THE LORDSHIP PRINCIPLE
    Christ is the Lord of church planting and He has a vision for your new church. Eph. 1:22, 23
2. THE POWER PRINCIPLE
    Prayer is the indispensable source of God’s power and wisdom in each phase of church planting. Josh. 5:13-15
3. THE NEHEMIAH PRINCIPLE
    God’s vision must lead to prayerful planning, the result of which should be a comprehensive task list with a specific time line. Luke 14:28
4. THE BARNABAS PRINCIPLE
    Every church planter needs a mentor. A mentor is someone who has been where you want to go and is willing to help you get there. Acts 11:25, 26a
5. THE TEAM LEADER PRINCIPLE
    The church planting pastor is most effective as part of a team on which he serves as the visionary leader. Acts 13:1-3
6. THE MISSION PRINCIPLE
    The central work of the new church will always be to help people put their trust in Christ and grow into maturity as His followers. Luke 15:7
7. THE LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLE
    Leadership development lies at the heart of the new church’s mission and the most important leadership quality to develop is spiritual maturity. Eph. 4:11, 12

8. THE BRIDGE PRINCIPLE
    Understanding (and communicating sensitively to) the hearts and minds of people in the target community is essential to reaching them effectively with the gospel. I Cor. 9:19-23
9. THE MAGNET PRINCIPLE
    When God plants a church, there should be widespread community awareness and interest. Matt. 5:14-16
10. THE BALANCE PRINCIPLE
    The church planter’s walk with God, family life, and ministry must be in biblical balance. I Tim. 3:4
11. THE MULTIPLICATION PRINCIPLE
    Healthy churches will reproduce. Daughter church planting should be envisioned and planned from the new church’s beginning. Acts 8:1b, 4
12. THE JOSEPH PRINCIPLE
     Attending to organizational and administrative matters will protect and stabilize the new church and enable it to grow in a healthy way. Acts 6:1-4, 5, 7a

EFFECTIVE TRAINING PRINCIPLES
The best church planting training is always marked by compassion for the church planter and his family. Effective trainers have a sincere desire to equip each team with the necessary tools for a successful launch and sustained health of the new church. There are some essential values that make training much more effective when they are closely observed.

1. Quality over Quantity: Multiplying qualified reproductive trainers and leaders is more essential than training a crowd.
2. Practical Application: Written and verbal assignments make training come to life and must be done by every student in every training event.
3. Indigenous Leadership: Empowered indigenous leaders are the key to multiplication.
4. Team Teaching and Quality: A team approach helps ensure high quality church planting training.
5. Give and it will be given: A “Give and it shall be given” approach helps encourage personal support and national funding.
6. Cooperation: Training should be offered to all leaders whose ministries are Bible-based and Christ-centered.
7. Kingdom Focus: God’s Kingdom grows when the focus is on evangelism, discipleship, and church planting.
8. Accountability: Reporting is not an optional exercise for trainers and leaders.
9. Envisioning: Expanding the church planting visions of others is an essential priority.
10. Leaders of leaders: Apostolic leaders can significantly influence entire regions of the world for Christ.
